Nyssa, Oregon

This was the last sale in Oregon. I am really going to miss Washington and Oregon, the sales were no big deal, but the country was great. I'll come back in about 8 or 9 months, and do it all over again. Tonight in Nyssa we had a small crowd but they were buyers, they did a good job. We will be in Idaho untill November 16th then a couple in Utah, and then to Georgia.

Baker City, Oregon Auction "Good Crowd"

Hells Canyon Highway

We had a sale in Enterprise, Oregon, now it is just about to the end of nowhere. The Sale wasn't any big deal, but it was worth seeing. There is 30 miles of lumber cars on the railroad track
that is not being used they needed some place to store them, that is almost 1800 lumber cars.

Pendelton, Oregon Underground

Back in the late 1800's and early 1900's Pendelton, Oregon was booming, downtown had 32 bars and 18 brothels, DBA Cat Houses. The bars were open 24 hours a day. The Chinese also came to Pendelton to get rich but they were to live underground and were not allowed outside after 8pm. They built an underground community, that is amazing. Arthur and I took the tour today of the underground and took alot of pictures, if you ever get to Pendelton, take the tour.

Back in Oxford after 3 months....

Well meeting my wife in Cheyenne didn't work out. The weather was so bad I went ahead and drove to Sidney and rescued her and we drove back to Oxford. It has been relaxing. But the jet lag will be coming, after being gone for 3 months and go, go, go and then stop, it will come.

I just mapped out 7 months or about 150 auctions in Georgia, now comes the real job of booking and advertising.

Strange Info: My dad was the manager of a traveling donkey ball team that was out of Oxford in the 30's. They booked a run of donkey ball games in Georgia, which driving to Georgia back then would probably be a real job, with a truck load of donkeys. Anyway, my dad met my mom in Gainsville, Ga. I had traveled to Gainsville, Ga to have an auction 50 some years latter after they met, when they called that my mom was in the hospital and I got back in time to say good bye.

Cheyenne, Wyoming

I left the southern part of Idaho this morning, it was a nice drive through Utah and from Evanston, WY to Laramie, WY. This is when it got bad, finally got to Cheyenne in one piece.
Connie's roads do not look good, she is still snowed in Sidney.

Maybe I will meet Connie tomorrow, the roads will have to be good or she won't drive.

My trip heading toward Nebraska.......Don't know where I am going to end up.

I drove to Pendelton, Oregon last night, dropped the truck off to get worked on and headed out toward Nebraska. I made it 6 miles to Walmart and Sammy and I stayed there. Got up and 7:30am and was going to make it a big driving day, but drove 36 miles pulled over and Sammy and I slept another 2 or 3 hours. Then I gave Sammy some Valium and he was great all day till now. If he doesn't quit barking he is going to get some more. We must have stopped at every rest area, to make a long story short, we have been on the road for 14 hours and we have only made it 400 miles. Not very good.
Connie left Oxford and is headed west and we are going to meet in Wyoming some where, but now she is snowed in, Sidney, Nebraska. As of right now I am in Idaho going south and the wind is really blowing, so Sammy and I are going to camp out tonight at a weigh station/rest area combination. It feels strange to be at a weigh station, because I have tried to avoid them at all cost for the last 36 years.

The eastern and western parts of Oregon are as different as night and day.

Goldendale, Washington

Had a great sale, good crowd the biggest sale I have had in Washington. Got up the next morning and had to hurry to Herminston, Oregon, I was within 5 miles and my RV quit. I rolled up to the top of the ramp of I-84 and just sat there. It would turn over, but it wouldn't start. I called every towing service and mechanic shop within 30 mile radius. No one wants to tow or work on and RV. Then Kyle who works with me on the road found the problem, the coil wire had burnt into. Bought a new one and off I went. Got to the sale in Hermiston, Oregon, small crowd, I thought it was going to be a quick one, but I had 5 young men that were going to Diesel Mechanic School and these guys let go and spent alot. Turned out to be a good sale.

They were really nice crowd, just had big spenders.

White Salmon, Washington

The snow capped Mt Hood is kinda of hard to see in the background. It is a beautiful sight. The sale wasn't any big deal. They are tough now. We are standing in Washington and looking to Oregon.

If you double click on the pics you can see so much better.

White Salmon, Washington

We are camped out tonight just outside of White Salmon, Washington on the Columbia River. A real nice RV Park with all kinds of rules ( I don't like rules ). For example your dog has to be on a 6' lease, no longer. There are train tracks right on the river edge, and every time a train goes by Sammy goes nuts. He is alot better than he has been. I took him to a vet and got him some doggie downers and also got him microchiped.

Vancover, Washington

Had a sale tonight in Ridgeway, Washington, and it was no big deal. Ridgeway, Washington is where U Haul began a long time ago maybe the 40's. They tell me that and old man went to Portland to rent a trailer, but back in those days it was quite a ride and not very good roads, he rented it brought it home and said to himself,, I CAN DO THIS, and so he did.

Tonight we are parked out at Walmart, my favorite RV Park. Sammy is getting a little better.
Got him some Valium to calm his little nervous system. My Sammy and I can take bed time pills together.

Sure glad Obama failed today, he finally didn't get his way. This is wonderful.......

My ambein is kicking in better go. Mike
